Las Palmas de Gran Canaria has an enormous tourist offer : beaches, leisure, culture, adventure, shopping, events … We propose you some activities

Tourist Guagua (bus)

It is one of the best ways to discover the city of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria in a single day. It works from Monday to Saturday, starting at 9.30 and ends at 17.45. Every 30 minutes starts from Santa Catalina Park. The ticket, which can be purchased on the bus itself works for the whole day.


The opened shopping areas are: Santa Catalina Park , Mesa y López, Triana. In these areas you will find all kinds of products and services.

Also there are popular shopping malls and entertainment: El Muelle (near the Parque Santa Catalina), Las Arenas (opposite to the Auditorio Alfredo Kraus in Las Canteras), the Monopol (Triana area) and peripherals Siete Palmas and La Ballena.

Markets: Port Market (near the Parque Santa Catalina) and Vegueta market.

In the district of San Lorenzo a farmers’ market is held every Sunday.


The epicenter of nightlife in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria is in the port area: Parque Santa Catalina and surroundings, Mesa y López and Las Canteras, where you can find a very large supply of all establishments (live music, discos , shows, parties, ethnic cuisine …)

Vegueta, which during the day is the concentration of history, tradition and culture of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, in the evening offers another face, more boisterous and dedicated to leisure, especially gourmet type (pubs, taverns, restaurants …).

Very near Vegueta, we find the Triana district and its surroundings where we enjoy live music, restaurants, outdoor terraces …

We recommend a visit to the museums in our city. The zone are ranked by area.

The Museo Canario (Vegueta).  Dr. Chil Street, 25. 10:00 to 20:00, Monday to Friday. Up to 14:00 hours, Saturdays, Sundays and holidays. The theme is Hispanic life in the Canaries. Its contains an important collection of ancient canary culture.

La Casa de Colón (Vegueta): Colón Street, 1. It is the house where Columbus slept on his way from Gran Canaria to America. The tour has permanent exhibitions which immerse us in the history of the Canary Islands and its relations with America.

The CAAM (Vegueta).  Los Balcones Street, 9-11 – 13. 10:00 to 21:00, Tuesday to Saturday. 10:00 to to 14:00 hours on Sundays. Closed on Mondays. It has a collection of contemporary pieces composed by Spanish, American, Africa and Europe.

The Museum Pérez Galdós (Triana area). Cano Street, 6. 9:00 to 21:00, Monday to Friday. To 18:00 on Saturdays. Sundays from 10:00 to 15:00. No working days closed. Birthplace of the writer BenitoPérez Galdós (Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, 1843 – Madrid, 1920). It Contain items that belonged to the writer and an extensive archive documentary on the life and work of the novelist. The visits are free and guided.

The Néstor Museum (Doramas Park – Pueblo Canario): Doramas Park. Pueblo Canario. 10:00 to 20:00, Tuesday to Saturday. From 10:30 to 14:30, Sundays and working days. The museum is dedicated to the modernist painter Néstor Martín Fernández de la Torre. It is also interesting to visit the architectural ensemble of the Pueblo Canario, the work of his brother, the architect Miguel Martín Fernández de la Torre and a walk around the Doramas park.

Elder Museum of Science and Technology ( Santa Catalina park). 10:00 to 20:00, Tuesday to Sunday. It has an exhibition area of 4,500 square meters. It allows a high interactivity between visitors and grounds, their motto is “please touch” and is especially suitable for children.

What not to miss:

Port Area

It is the main entertainment, and leisure in the city. Here we can enjoy the beach of Las Canteras, chosen as a symbol of the city by its inhabitants and the Castillo de la Luz, defensive first building in the city.

The Parque Santa Catalina and surroundings near Las Canteras. It is the main leisure center and scene of the shows that take place in the city (concerts, events, Carnaval …), plus accommodates the Elder Museum of Science and Miller Building, multidisciplinary center of cultural activities.

The Auditorio Alfredo Kraus, at the northwest end of the beach of Las Canteras, one of the landmarks of the city. It is used as a convention center and especially for concerts and musical events.

La Isleta. This area is known for its natural and scenic value Confital beach. From the neighborhood of Las Coloradas, there are marvellous views of the city.

Triana Zone – Vegueta

Vegueta: The original nucleus of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, where Real de Las Palmas in 1478 was placed. In Vegueta we can visit the Cathedral (sample of diverse architectural styles) and the Plaza de Santa Ana, the Provincial Historic Archive.

Triana: Located across the Guiniguada ravine wich a precious shopping area.


El Jardin Canario (Viera y Clavijo Botanical Garden): the Botanical Garden is the largest of Spain. It is located in the Guiniguada ravine and specializes in the flora of Macaronesia (Canary Islands, Madeira, Azores and Cabo Verde). You can visit from 9:00 to 18:00 from Monday to Sunday. Except January 1 and Good Friday.

The Bandama Caldera is located 10 kilometers from the city. Accessed by Tafira road . We can see perfectly the ancient volcano crater, with a diameter of more than 1,000 meters, a perimeter of 10 kilometers and a depth of 200 meters. You can visit it from 9:00 to 18:00 from Monday to Sunday.
